To become a Christian or a follower of Christ it is necessary to understand and do several things. We must understand
that we are, of ourselves, sinners in need of a savior:
Ro 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...
All have sinned. You, me, all the preachers on TV and in every church; ALL. In God's eyes without Jesus we are all the
same: sinners. Fortunately God provided a means for our salvation:
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life.
This verse tells us that God loved us so much that he was willing to give Jesus', his son's life in exchange for our life.
If we believe. This next verse tells us what we should do if we believe:
Mt 16:24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross,
and follow me.
Simply put, this means your life after making this decision should change. Because it will no longer be yours, it will
be God's. For you to follow Jesus means to yield to His desires in your life. By doing that you will receive the joy He
has purposed for you and a piece beyond understanding:
Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Do you want it? You are like Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz: all you have to do is ask! Just say a simple prayer to God
right now, right where you are, silent or out loud. Something like this:
Lord thank you for bringing me here today. Thank you for showing me that I'm a sinner and I need you. Thank you for
dying for me, and thank you for rising again. I want to change my life and I give it all to you. Help me change as I seek
your will in my life. Thank you for saving me!
If you just prayed that prayer or something like it, congratulations! Now you really need help! Find a church and read
your Bible and pray, pray, pray. Praying is simply talking to God and asking him for help, wisdom, guidance etc. And thanking
him for all the wonderful things he's done and has planned for your life.
Welcome to your new life as a Christian. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or to share your celebration!
Congratulations!
